The atmosphere was amazing.  We were a bit surprised watching fans from both teams sitting  together and enjoying the match.

The fans wore very colorful jerseys, scarves and caps. You can identify the team’s colors; we have in our minds the yellow and brown from Hawthorn and the black and white from Collingwood.

Last Friday, we were at the MCG watching an exciting game between Hawthorn and Collingwood teams. There was a good atmosphere, because the stadium was really crowded with young people and there were a lot of families  and tourists like us too! We could see different kinds of people,  couples, friends, families, tourists and people by themselves too.

The weather was great for this occasion, no rain, no clouds, no wind – just a good breeze! When we arrived at the Stadium at 7 pm and the weather was pleasantly warm, about 27`degrees. During the game, seagulls flew  in the sky.

We were at the top of the Stadium on the highest seats with other friends. The game was really amazing and people shouted with energy and enthusiasm while we were looking around the stadium amazed. Sometimes fans jeered at the umpires, but the two teams were really amazing in how they played and won.

Last Friday we went to see a footy match between Hawthorn and  Collingwood. The stadium was full of supporters, with about 78,400 people there. There were supporters for both teams, sitting together with no problems.

The supporters screamed when their team kicked the ball between the posts (when you kick the ball between the big posts you get 6 points and between the small posts or when you hit on the post it’s one point ) or when a player hits another player. Most of the supporters were  wearing  the  T-shirts or scarves of their teams.

The match was very interesting, the teams got points and the score was changing all the time. We felt very good because it was a new experience and the rules and game were so different to soccer.

After a close game, Hawthorn won the match in the final minutes.

After last Friday’s match all of us can say, it was an amazing experience. For most of us, it was the very first time we had seen an AFL footy match.

We had the opportunity to be part of an atmosphere that was breath taking. People at the stadium were fantastic. Many supporters of both football teams were enjoying the start of the AFL season.

However, some of us weren’t there to see only the match. We were surprised how many female fans came there to support their teams. Unfortunately for the players, who did the best on the ground, some of our classmates paid more attention to their surroundings than on the game.

In conclusion, it was a great experience, everyone found something interesting for themselves.

We are more than sure it was a memorable moment for us.
